Book Description
Har Dayal went to Delhi and then on to Patiala to leave sundar with her family. He was, as usual, in this "dhoti" and "kurta" and was not received with open arms by her family. Sundar`s father was particularly bitter and told Har Dayal that he had ruined his daughter`s life. " You could have been anything, but instead you have chosen a path which will lead straight to prison". Har Dayal was not unduly perturbed: he had nothing but contempt for the ICS or anyone working to further British interest. He said his goodbyes to sundar rani. Who was promptly gathered up into the protective fold of her family. Har Dayal did not realize that he would never meet her again, nor would he ever see the face of his daughter Shanti. Who was born a few days after he had left India. The British did not allow him back into the country.`
