Using an ethnographic study of the Jad Bhotiya community of Uttarkashi this book discusses universal concepts of nationalism identity and democracy to name a few. It also talks about their constructions of gender the political construction of self with respect to international and border relationships and how factors such as trade economy and the policies of a democratic country have affected the community.
